Want to find out how to start your own podcast? Finding a new way to tell the story of your community?
Near FM are running an interactive online workshop – Storytelling for community development. This workshop gives you an introduction to developing and producing podcasts with NearCast, Near FM’s podcast network. Podcasts allow you to tell your story, your way. No experience is necessary, this workshop will give you the tools to get started. During this interactive workshop we will look at the growth of podcasts and how you can start your own podcast on alternative media platforms such as NearCast. We will listen to examples of a diverse range of podcasts and discuss different podcast formats and styles. We will examine the power of audio as a tool for storytelling, and give tips on how to record remotely, edit audio at home with the open source tool Audacity and provide information on relatively inexpensive equipment to get started.
We encourage you to listen to different podcasts ahead of this interactive workshop. We will also allow time to discuss your ideas and give you information on how you can host your own podcast on our podcast platform, NearCast.
In addition to the workshop, Near FM trainers will host a one hour online catch up, to track the progress of your ideas, approximately 4 weeks after the training workshop is completed.
The workshop will be conducted via video conferencing app Zoom. Once registered we will email you with further details and the link to Zoom.
We never want cost to be a barrier to people joining our training. Concessionary prices are available, please get in touch with us at events@dublinfood.coop.
What podcasters with NearCast say about us:
I want to thank the NearCast team for promoting, supporting and challenging volunteers to produce podcasts on a variety of topics. I found the experience of working with NearCast to be exciting, inspiring, challenging and rewarding. They facilitated me as the producer to dissect a complex topic into digestible chunks of knowledge. This helps the listener to engage in the subject.
Mary Oyediran – Racism is Real in Ireland Podcast
Working with NearFM on our podcast was a fantastic experience. Their staff are helpful, friendly, and really know what they’re doing! And even more importantly, the end result was polished and professional. We at The Wheel look forward to working with them again in the future.
