All the nominations received by the Co-op were reviewed at a meeting of our Nomination & Governance Committee, and we are happy to announce the Rose McCaul and Grace Wilentz will be joining sitting CB members Maureen O’Donnell and Filipa Ferraz in standing for (re-)election to the CB.

As we do not have more candidates than we have vacant seats – each candidate will present to our AGM and will be appointed to the CB subject to an ordinary resolution based on our consensus decision-making process under Rule 13.

Depending on the outcome of Resolution C on the agenda at the Annual General Meeting (which proposing a reduction in the number of positions on the CB) – we will have a varying number of vacant seats left.

The Nomination & Governance Committee will be proposing that on this occasion we opt to leave the seats vacant and task the committee to search for potential co-optees that fit the skills and experience gaps on the CB.

These would be subject to confirmation by the members at the next AGM, as outlined in Rule 10[f](iii) of our Constitution.

We believe that this process will lead to filling the remaining vacancies with candidates who have had time to consider the committed required for the role.

Of course, it is for the members at General Meeting to determine which approach they wish to take and the committee look forward to discussing this on Wednesday.

The Co-op has changed a lot since I became a member but what hasn’t changed (and is increasingly important) is a need for community. The CB needs to be at the heart of connecting and fostering our Co-op community.

Could you please share any other directorships and/or possible conflicts of interest you may have?
None.

I am a passionate believer in the ethos of the Co-op, and want to make sure that now that we have our own premises, that the organisation of the Co-op is put on a strong footing. We have made a lot of progress this last year, but I want to focus on completing my own work in this regard.

I have been a member and a volunteer for 20 years. This year I have engaged with CB and other members to help establish a Members’ Affairs Committee. It will be a place to discuss and contribute meaningfully to the direction of their Co-op. I look forward to supporting this development further.
